In Part 3 of this 3 part demo series, Karen the sales manager at Contoso needs to create and share a customer proposal, create a project plan to execute on the proposal and include key BI content into a customer presentation. Once Karen has found the necessary content for her proposal and presentation she posts the documents to the Contoso SharePoint 2010 site for others to collaborate. In this customer scenario the Contoso account manager checks her email through Outlook 2010 and sees a request from an important client from China asking for special pricing on a product within the next 3 days. The account manager, Karen, immediately sets up a meeting with her manager to discuss next steps. Karen then searches through the Contoso SharePoint site for a subject matter expert (SME) who will be able to validate her initial findings from the SharePoint BI portal of the Contoso sales site as well as help her justify the discounts provided in the A Datum sales proposal. Once Karen has found a SME she immediately initiates an on line conversation to resolve the customer issues quickly and efficiently. Karen also extends the chat by sharing her desktop and then begins a video conference for a richer communication experience. Karen is able to resolve her customers’ request using the rich features available in Office 2010 and SharePoint 2010.

Karen, the Contoso account manager, is already tracking down a customer issue and is impressed with the easy access to sales data found in the Contoso SharePoint 2010 BI portal. She wants to be absolutely certain that her assumptions are correct so she opens a Unified Communications meeting with a co-worker, Molly, where she can share her desktop and immediately invite others to the conversation. She also provides desktop control to her co-worker so that they can collaborate real time using data in an Excel spreadsheet. Having quick, easy access to customer insights and being able to connect with co-workers to collaborate immediately enables Contoso to use BI data to drive sales and resolve customer business issues.
